Leaving Drift: the dates, what to export, and what to check before you switch

Drift stops on 31 January 2027, or on your contract end if that comes first, and whatever is not exported is deleted on 1 May 2027. Here are the dates with their source, and the five things to do before your access ends.

A B2B site's chat widget with Marcus and Olivia online. The visitor asks whether they can run Drift and GreetDock together until January; Marcus answers that nothing turns off first, and Olivia is typing.

Drift stops working on 31 January 2027. Salesloft's own Drift Sunset FAQ says so, adds that your access ends earlier if your contract ends first, and gives 1 May 2027 as the day any data you have not exported is deleted for good. This article keeps those dates with their source, lists what to do before your access ends, and says plainly what GreetDock does and does not do for a team moving off Drift.

We read the FAQ on 27 October 2026. Salesloft says it will update the page as details are confirmed, so check it again before you plan around a date, and confirm your own contract date with your Salesloft account team.

When does Drift stop working?

Three dates matter, all from the Drift Sunset FAQ (last modified 22 September 2026).

DateWhat happensWhat it means for you
31 January 2027Drift is retired. The chat widget, Drift Email and custom integrations built on the Drift API stop working.Remove the Drift script from your site before then, and have the next widget live.
Your contract end, if earlierAccess ends on 31 January 2027 or on the end date of your current contract, whichever comes first.A contract that ends earlier runs to its own end date with no change to billing. Your date may be sooner than January.
1 May 2027Remaining Drift data is permanently deleted. After the retirement, data stays offline until 30 April 2027 for export requests. Whatever has not been exported by then cannot be recovered.

In Salesloft's words:

Your access to Drift ends on January 31, 2027, or on the end date of your current contract, whichever comes first.

Five things to do before your access ends

Nothing in this list needs GreetDock. It is the order we would follow with any Drift team, whichever tool comes next.

  1. Note the earlier of your two dates. Your contract end date or 31 January 2027. That is the day Drift access ends for your team, so every other step sits before it.
  2. Ask Salesloft for a data export. The FAQ says to submit an export request to your Account Manager or to Support. Drift has no self-serve bulk export, so keep your own copy of the conversation history.
  3. List what else runs on Drift. Drift Email and any custom integration on the Drift API stop with the widget. Write each one down with where it should live next.
  4. Pick the next tool and run both. Install the replacement beside Drift during its trial, and remove the Drift script only once the new widget is live on your site.
  5. Tell the people who answer. Everyone on chat should know the day Drift goes quiet, which tool they answer from, and where the old history is kept.

What GreetDock does, and does not

GreetDock is built for the opposite of a bot-first funnel: your own team talks to the visitor while they are still on the page. The full side-by-side with Drift, each detail linked to its public source, is on the comparison page.

What it does

  • A person from your team answers every visitor.
  • You see who is on which page right now, with their visit history.
  • Voice and video calls run in the browser; the visitor accepts in the widget, with nothing to install. The visitor can also tap Talk now, or ask for a callback or book a time when nobody is free.
  • Screen sharing runs inside a call, from either side, after the other side accepts.
  • Co-browsing starts after the visitor allows it, with masked fields and no remote control.
  • Email, too: the offline form reaches your team by email, replies go out by email from the same inbox, and the team shares one mailbox.
  • Hosting is in the EEA, with our own media relay in the EEA for calls.
  • AI drafts replies and summarises recorded calls, and a person reviews before anything is sent.

What it does not

  • No chatbot that answers or qualifies visitors, and no bot playbooks.
  • No import of Drift history, and no self-serve export.
  • No helpdesk or ticketing.

If a bot that answers first is what you need, Salesloft refers Drift clients to 1mind. We say so on the comparison page, because picking the right tool matters more than picking ours.

What switching looks like

Switching does not switch anything off first. Add one script tag after a person has reviewed your application and confirmed compatibility with your site, invite the people who answer, and run GreetDock beside Drift during the free 30-day trial. When you are ready, remove the Drift script. The four-minute product tour shows the inbox, a call and a shared page end to end.

Questions Drift teams ask

Is Drift still available until then?

Yes. On 5 March 2026, Clari + Salesloft announced the gradual sunset of Drift and said it will refer existing Drift clients to 1mind as the successor. drift.com now opens Salesloft's Chat Agents page. The FAQ says your contract, service level and support stay the same until the sunset date or your contract end, whichever comes first.

What should we do with our Drift conversation history?

Keep your own copy before your access ends. Salesloft's FAQ says to ask your Account Manager or Support for an export; data left after 30 April 2027 is deleted on 1 May 2027 and cannot be recovered. GreetDock has no import and no self-serve export, so plan where that history will live.

Where is our data hosted?

Salesloft's security page says the Drift platform is hosted on AWS in the US. GreetDock is hosted in the EEA, and calls run through our own media relay in the EEA.

We build sites for clients who use Drift. What then?

Studios and agencies can help a client switch before the deadline, and hand the inbox over to the client's team afterwards. The partners page explains how that works and what we do not offer yet.

Is this up to date?

The dates come from the Drift Sunset FAQ as we read it on 27 October 2026. If Salesloft changes the page, we update this article and the comparison page, and note the new date.
